How do I know if I need counseling services or coaching services? It’s easy to get a little confused about the two as they have a lot of similarities! Take a look at this quick comparison.


Therapy

  • Address mental health issues such as trauma, depression, or anxiety

  • Is about healing trauma or deep/core negative thinking patterns

  • Primarily looks at past and present events

  • Need help regulating and navigating through emotions

Coaching

  • Is not a substitute for mental health counseling

  • Is about setting goals or finding direction

  • Goals are more short-term

  • Primarily looks at present and future events

  • Good for feeling “stuck” in personal or professional life
